"The God-Fearing Filipino"

"The God-Fearing Filipino"

One of the most significant asset that a Filipino posses is being god-fearing. Being god-fearing means, obeying the rules of one's religion and living in a way that is considered  morally right. Despite the fact that Filipinos are being exposed to technologies and a lot of temptations, Filipinos still remain sacred among other nations. The opposition of Philippine leaders against with same sex marriage, divorce and foreign concerts that are too harsh is the best example that Filipinos still values religious aspect of their life.
Although Filipinos are diverse, having various beliefs and religions in the same country, they still share the same attitudes when it comes to their religion. Christians celebrates fiestas and patronize their saints. at the same time every Christmas, they show how their families unites as they pray together for their God "Jesus Christ". Muslims on the other hand, especially the women are are giving respects to themselves by wearing their "hi jab" and closed clothes showing obedience to their "Allah".
Churches and other religious organizations are given proper attention by the Philippine government. At the same time, Filipino parents nurture their child to be much God-conscious by teaching them good values from God.  Whatever hurdles in life, families still gather together every Sunday for a church visit. It has been the culture or way of Filipinos to spend their family bonding   every Sunday at the church. Every Sunday, churches are filled with people worshiping and asking forgiveness to God, they do this, because they feared God. That's one of the main reason why Filipinos at this age/generation are acknowledge by other countries as "God fearing".
The legacy of Filipino forefathers that started long before until the Spanish introduce new religion to us came to be the basis of Filipino's approach to their religions. Most of the Filipino values such as being hospitable, hardworking, respectful and loving has some come connection of our being god-fearing. In times  of sudden conflicts and disasters, Filipinos can still managed to call the help of God or at least thank Him for saving their lives.
It may not be correct to say that all Filipinos are God fearing but at least we can claim to ourselves that Filipinos religious essence is still alive and will still be handed up to the next generation and that Filipinos are truly devoted to their God.
